SJCC 2020 Marketing + Communications

Thanks to the pandemic, marketing in 2020 was a whole new experience. The SJCC, like so many other businesses, closed in March 2020 and did not reopen until June 2020. And when we did open, everything changed.

During that time period, the SJCC did not have a digital platform or virtual programing. We had to launch it from scratch and instantly. Here is a brief high-level look of what we did:

  • Daily communications updating community on impacts to the SJCC
  • Following closure, created virtual programming lineup
  • Communicated weekly to all of our various audiences on how they can stay connected
  • Created virtual programs, including virtual fitness classes, storytime with ECS teachers, online Tot Shabbat, online holiday programs (Passover), unique virtual features like Bagel Bites and J Kids live, and many others
  • Rebrand and rebuild of SJCC.org to make virtual programming more functional
  • Major programs, like Seattle Jewish Film Festival (Virtual SJFF) and Summer J Camp (J-Cation) were rebranded to reflect the temporary format change to make them possible during the pandemic

Here is a snapshot of what we did during the SJCC’s closure to keep our community connected and the communications we sent updating our constituents on what was happening. We did this throughout 2020 and into 2021 until in-person programming returned full-time. Reflected within the email communications sent to our community is the volume of programs we did virtually.
